Due to its uniquely strong fronds, hardiness, and adaptability, Crispy Wave can outlive almost any other potted plant.
Maintaining your Crispy Wave fern
will require different levels of care
during the year.
If you care for this low maintenance plant properly, it will keep your air naturally clean for a very long time.
The soil should never dry out completely. Watering
is required more often during the active growing period (April-September). Make sure not to over-water and don't leave the plant sitting in water.
An east- or north-facing window would be ideal. If in a South or West facing window, provide shade. No direct sunlight: the leaves might become pale or get burn marks.
Once your fern's roots have filled the existing pot,
re-pot to the next size container. Use any all purpose or tropical soil mixture with good drainage.
Choose a pot that has drip holes at the bottom.
Keep Crispy Wave between 70 and 90 °F (21-32 °C) during the day and 10 degrees cooler at night. Keep the plant away from drafts. Make sure the temperature is not too warm, or the base of the leaves will begin to turn yellow. Keep the environment humid.
Feed once a month during the growing season
(Apr-Sept) using a 24-8-16 all-purpose fertilizer diluted to half strength. Feeding is not required from November to February. Only use liquid fertilizer and don't overfeed as this could burn the roots.
Crispy Wave is a voracious grower. When transplanted
to a very large container, this plant can grow into
a massive air-purifying bush given enough years.
